The Turkish (original) series on Disney+: Can Yaman, Hande Erçel... And Kerem Bürsin?

The streaming platform prepares its arrival in the country with some strong projects that have its main figures as protagonists. Disney+ is preparing to land in Turkey and wants to do it in a big way. After all, it is the second country in the world that exports the most audiovisual products, behind the United States, so it is preparing a strategy of original content to open the barrier with a good letter of introduction and, at the same time, reach even more people outside its borders.

For the moment, not many details are known about its projects, but what is coming to light is that it will have its most important and international figures. One of the first confirmed is Can Yaman. What could be considered the most popular Turkish actor could not be missing in the staff of the streaming platform. The names of Hande Erçel, Elçin Sangu and Pinar Denız also sound very strongly, but of whom there is no trace is Kerem Bürsin, although there was talk of a possible participation. Here we resume you all the series that Disney+ has in progress in Turkey.

THE RETURN OF CAN YAMAN

Can Yaman has been trying his luck in other industries for some time now. After making a splash in his home country, the actor moved to Italy, where he has shot Viola come il mare, a thriller based on the novel El color del miedo, by Simona Tanzini, and has in progress Sandokan, an international production that, due to the pandemic, has postponed its filming. His signing with Disney+ is therefore a long-awaited return to Turkey.

As for the series, few details are known. It seems that behind it is the production company Ay Yapım, one of the big audiovisual houses. Theirs are Yargi, Kuzgun or Love 101. Neither plot nor cast has been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that Yaman will be starring.

ARAS BULUT İYNEMLI WILL BE MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK.

Another project that seems to be in the works is Aras Bulut İynemli. The actor of  Çukur, among other productions, has signed on to bring to life Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, better known as Atatürk, founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey. The 'streaming' platform will review the life of this important figure of the country in a biographical series that, according to several Turkish media, is expected to have two seasons.

KAÇIŞ', THE BIG BET.

Disney+ Turkey seems to have everything tied up and well designed for its launch in the country. One of its main bets is the series Kaçış, of which some details are known, unlike the rest of the productions. It is known that it will star Engin Akyürek and İrem Helvacıoğlu . The story, written and directed by Akyürek himself, focuses on two war correspondents. Filming has reportedly already begun in Gaziantep and the surrounding area.

HANDE ERÇEL IN TALKS

What has not yet been confirmed is Hande Erçel's participation in one of the most anticipated Disney+ projects. There is talk that the actress would be negotiating her signing for a fiction that would also have Pinar Deniz and Elçin Sangu as protagonists. No details are known about it, neither plot nor cast, so we will have to keep an eye out for new details. We are glad to see the platform betting on a female lead cast and, although it is not yet official, we hope it will become a reality. Kerem Bürsin will appear in Disney+'s first Turkish series.

WHAT ABOUT KEREM BÜRSIN?

In July 2021, Turkish journalist Birsen Altuntas announced that Kerem Bürsin had received an offer from the service to star in one of its first series. According to the information given at the time, the production company MF Yapim, the same as Love is in the air, was behind the project, although no further details were revealed. Half a year has passed and there has been no news about it, so we can imagine that, finally, Bürsin will not participate in that fiction. We don't know if it will be the same that Can Yaman will finally star in, but what is certain is that the actor's fans will have to wait a little longer to see him in 'streaming' with a new role.
