Can Yaman and Demet Özdemir: Erkenci Kuş is a hit in Argentina, debut with 55% of share

Erkenci Kuş, better known in Italy as DayDreamer - Le ali del sogno, the series starring Can Yaman and Demet Özdemir (who will soon debut with a new series for digital), is an endless success. It recently debuted in Argentina, reaching a share of 55% and entering the top 5 of the most viewed programs on the network where it airs, Telefe.

The success of Erkenci Kuş in Argentina

Erkenci Kuş, the series starring Can Yaman and Demet Özdemir between 2018 and 2019, is enjoying great success in Argentina.

Until now, the rating record, in addition to Turkey, had it in Italy. Suffice it to say that in 2021, during the first week of March, it had reached 73 million views on Mediaset Play, beating even Sanremo, which had "only" 71 million views on Rai Play. Now the success arrives overseas in Argentina, where Erkenci Kuş (with the name of Soñar Contigo) is broadcast on the Telefe channel.

The first episode aired on Monday, February 21st in the network's evening time slot and reached an audience rating of 10.3, equal to 55.54% share (with peaks of 57.25%), beating the competing program which reached 34.38% share. With the passing of the episodes, the ratings have grown more and more and during the week the series has reached an average score of 10.61, becoming the most-watched romantic series in Argentina in the last week and entering the Top 5 of the most-watched programs of Telefe.

The hashtag #SoñarContigo, on the day, also becomes a trending topic on Twitter.

The 'dizi' are popular overseas

After Italy and Spain, Turkish TV series are now conquering Argentina, which in the eighties and nineties was the largest producer of soap operas and in recent times has had success with Disney's teen productions (some examples are Patty's World and Violetta).

Now, however, the "dizi" seems to be catching on, and in addition to Erkenci Kuş, Sen Anlat Karadeniz, a drama series starring Ulaş Tuna Astepe, İrem Helvacıoğlu, Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu, Sinan Tuzcu, and Öykü Gürman between 2018 and 2019, is garnering a great deal of public acclaim. In Argentina, the series airs under the name Fugitiva and is the second most-watched program on Telefe.

Due to the violent scenes present, in Turkey, the series risked closure. In fact at the time have been forwarded several complaints to Rtük (Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu), the Turkish state agency in charge of the control, regulation, and sanction of Turkish television and radio broadcasting.
