Can Yaman and his participation in The Ignorant Fairies, Ferzan Özpetek: 'He had other commitments'

Ferzan Özpetek arrived in Turkey with the film The Goddess of Fortune, released in theaters on March 25, 2022. He gave several interviews for the occasion, including one to Hürryet Pazar, in which he spoke not only about his present and future projects, but also about his relationship with Can Yaman.

Ferzan Özpetek, on March 25, came out in Turkey with The Goddess of Fortune (in Turkish Şans Tanrıçası, ed.), which is a film he directed in 2019 and stars Stefano Accorsi, Edoardo Leo, and Jasmine Trinca.

With the Turkish press, he had a chance to talk about his recent projects, including the series of The Ignorant Fairies that will be available from April 13 on Disney Plus. The series features Burak Deniz, known for having taken part in several Turkish TV series such as Bizim Hikaye, who was chosen by the director after being awarded "Men of the year" by GQ Türkiye.

Ferzan Özpetek also spoke about his collaboration with Can Yaman, born for an Italian pasta company commercial, and about the possibility of including the actor in the cast of The Ignorant Fairies: "I met Can, and a beautiful friendship was born between us. There was also the idea of having Can in the series, but he had other commitments".

Ferzan Özpetek also denied the rumors about some alleged rifts on the set with Can Yaman: "There was nothing like that.

He had an important project, but it was postponed, so he tried his hand at another production. Can is a good person, I hope he does great things."

Can Yaman's upcoming projects

There are several projects on Can Yaman's horizon. Last week, filming finished on Viola come il mare, the fiction that sees him alongside Francesca Chillemi and that will premiere on Tuesday, March 29, at the Bifest in Bari (at the moment, the air date on Canale 5 is still unknown).

Next summer, on the other hand, the actor could be involved in a Turkish-produced series for Disney Plus. The title could be El turco and filming should start around July. There are rumors that at Can Yaman's side there could be "a world-famous star", but at the moment no names have been mentioned yet.

The only question mark remains with Sandokan. The series, produced by Lux Vide, was officially presented in December 2020, but due to some problems, including the pandemic, filming was always postponed. Until recently, there was talk that filming was supposed to begin in the summer of 2022, but if the rumors about El Turco were true they would go against the set up for Disney Plus. All of these technicalities could be cleared up in the coming weeks.
