Serkan Çayoğlu and Özge Gürel officially engaged: summer wedding in Italy

Serkan Çayoğlu and Özge Gürel are officially engaged and close to marriage. The former stars of Kiraz Mevsimi celebrated the event with family and friends in a traditional Turkish engagement ceremony. The wedding will take place in the summer and the location will be Italy.

Serkan asks for Özge's hand in the Turkish coffee ritual

Serkan Çayoğlu and Özge Gürel are officially engaged and the engagement ceremony took place following the traditional Turkish coffee ritual. As we have seen in several dizi also in Italy (as in Erkenci Kuş for instance), Turkish tradition includes several steps before the wedding.

For instance, the bride-to-be prepares her fiancé a cup of coffee containing salt, which he must drink without hesitation. This would be a kind of 'rehearsal', where the future husband shows his beloved that he is willing to do anything for her. The pivotal point of the evening, however, is the cutting of the kurdela, the red ribbon linking the two engagement rings, which is cut by an elderly member of the family while pronouncing a formula of good wishes.

Summer weddings in Italy, the date is still top secret

Serkan Çayoğlu and Özge Gürel have followed tradition and the couple is set to get married during the summer of 2022 and will do so in Italy.That's right: they have decided to get married in Italy in the summer, although the date has not yet been decided.

In the meantime, they enjoyed their engagement party with family and close friends.

The love born on the set of Kiraz Mevsimi

The love between Serkan Çayoğlu and Özge Gürel was born on the set in 2014 when they both starred in the TV serial Kiraz Mevsimi (Cherry Season - The Season of the Heart). Several times in the past there was talk of a possible marriage, but in the end, nothing materialized.

In 2016, for example, a Turkish magazine had announced that Serkan would propose to Özge, but the rumor soon turned out to be false.

A few months ago, the two attended an event in Istanbul where they talked about their upcoming wedding. They said they were slowly working out the details, partly because Serkan had just finished filming a series, while Özge had started filming Hayaller ve Hayatlar (already available on the beIN CONNECT platform).

The marriage proposal arrived in 2021 in America during their holiday, and one could not help but notice the ring Özge wore on her left hand (it was rumored to cost around 370,000 Euro or almost 25,000 Euro).
