Actor Can Yaman, star of the Turkish soap opera Sueño Contigo on TVN, experienced an uncomfortable moment with the Turkish press during the launch of the Disney+ platform in Türkiye (Turkey).
The incident happened in the middle of an event organised by the streaming service on 14 June in Istanbul. A number of Turkish celebrities took part in the event, parading down the "blue carpet" while being interviewed by local media.
However, when Can Yaman appeared on the set, the journalists who were working there quickly lowered their cameras and microphones so as not to speak to the actor.
The surprise episode did not go unnoticed by the actor, who had traveled from Italy to attend the launch, nor by the other guests present at the time.
According to the Sensacine website, one of the Turkish journalists present told his colleagues to "put the cameras down" as soon as the actor entered the stage. However, some Turkish media claim that the actor himself asked not to give interviews at the event.
The uncomfortable moment quickly became known on social media, where videos began to circulate showing the action of the reporters. The actor even trended on Twitter.
Yaman's fans reacted angrily on digital platforms, calling it a rude and discourteous act by the journalists towards the TV star.
