The date with Viola come il mare was among the most eagerly awaited by audiences in the past fall TV season. The six-date series starred Can Yaman alongside former Miss Italy Francesca Chillemi. The drama recorded an overall rating average of 2.8 million viewers in prime time, with a share of 17.59 percent. The numbers were very positive, although far from the "rating boom" that many had predicted due to the presence of the Turkish actor.
Importantly, from the first to the last episode, there was a major drop in ratings with Viola Come il mare. From its debut with three and a half million viewers, the final episode recorded rating numbers well below three million. Many believed, however, that the presence of one of the Italians' most beloved faces would change the fortunes of the drama. Despite the declining ratings, however, the drama has already been confirmed for a second season in the schedule of the next Mediaset television season.
At the moment, Can Yaman has been defeated in the Auditel data challenge by Raul Bova, starring in prime time with Buongiorno mamma 2. The first four episodes were broadcast on Canale 5 and recorded an overall average of more than 3.2 million viewers, with a share touching the 19 percent wall.
There is still no news on the possible third season of Buongiorno mamma, but given the positive ratings, it is not ruled out that Mediaset may put in the pipeline a new season of the series starring Raul Bova.
