Celebrities in the world of showbiz often promote the ads of brands they collaborate with on social media. The amounts they earn per sponsored post have shocked many.
While some of Turkey's biggest stars demand astronomical sums for their posts, others reject offers regardless of the price. Megastar Tarkan and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ fall into the latter category.
These two celebrities turn down offers regardless of the brand or the amount offered. They only share snippets from the commercials they do as part of their brand ambassador contracts on their social media.
LUXURY GIFTS IN EXCHANGE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS
Bartering, which means using advertising content in exchange for receiving luxury products, is among the most preferred methods by famous figures.
Some global brands send luxury gifts to celebrities in exchange for them using and sharing photos of themselves with the products on their social media. Some of the celebrities who have done this include: Serenay Sarıkaya, Afra Saraçoğlu, Yağmur Tanrısevsin, Neslihan Atagül, Demet Özdemir, Burcu Biricik, and Fahriye Evcen.
PARTNERSHIPS WITH CAR BRANDS
Collaborations between celebrities and luxury car brands also catch the eye. Some brands provide luxury cars to celebrities for a year, free of charge.
In return, these celebrities post on social media, attend events with the car brand, and appear in newspapers and TV shows.
Some celebrities who have partnered with car brands include:
- Serenay Sarıkaya / Volvo XC90
- Hande Erçel / Range Rover Defender
- Ayça Ayşin Turan / BMW 218i
INCREASING NUMBER OF COLLABORATIONS
Previously, celebrities did not invoice their social media advertising collaborations, and they received a fixed fee. However, with increased audits and penalties, they are now invoicing with added VAT and income tax. With these two additions, the amounts nearly double, but companies continue to increase their collaborations with famous figures.
It is mandatory for celebrities to include the tags #işbirliği (partnership) or #reklam (advertisement) clearly in their advertising collaborations on social media. However, some choose to use the tag #öneri (recommendation) to avoid tax payments.
In addition to their barter agreements, some celebrities receive fees for their posts, and here are a few examples:
- Hande Erçel: 600,000 TL
- Serenay Sarıkaya: 500,000 TL
- Burcu Esmersoy: 150,000 TL
- Çağla Şıkel: 150,000 TL
- Meryem Üzerli: 20,000 dollars (539,000 TL)
- Burak Özçivit: 100,000 dollars (2.7 million TL)
- Dilan Çiçek Deniz: 450,000 TL
- Serkan Çayoğlu: 400,000 TL
- Fahriye Evcen: 500,000 TL
