Former NU'EST member, Hwang Min Hyun, revealed the most difficult and shocking part of being a trainee at PLEDIS Entertainment.
The idol actor was a guest on episode 16 of the show "Suchwita." Suga mentioned that Hoshi and Woozi from SEVENTEEN had previously appeared on Suchwita and discussed PLEDIS Entertainment's training system, so he knew it wasn't easy. "Hoshi and Woozi have been here before and talked about what training at Pledis was like. I heard it's no joke."
Minhyun, originally from Busan, shared how he was scouted outside his school, noting that Pledis Entertainment wasn't the powerhouse it is today at that time.
Taking the plunge, Minhyun auditioned in a hotel corridor. After a few days, he had a second audition in Seoul and passed. This marked a crucial moment in his journey, transitioning from a hopeful teenager to an idol.
However, Hwang Minhyun revealed an unexpected aspect of being a trainee at PLEDIS Entertainment that Suga hadn't heard before: you have to drink milk. Hwang Minhyun stated that this was challenging for him.
While the audition process itself was difficult, Minhyun disclosed that his days as a trainee were even tougher. The most daunting challenge was the requirement to consume an impressive amount of 1.2 liters of milk each day.
"One thing I always remember from the trainee days that was difficult for me was that we all had to drink 1.2 liters of milk every day."
Suga wondered why an entertainment company would have such a rule. So, Hwang Minhyun hypothesized that it was to help the trainees grow.
Hwang Minhyun described the "milk training" as harder than practice, as he disliked drinking milk. Unfortunately, it was a requirement. Trainees couldn't go home until they had consumed 1.2 liters that day.
The Suchwita video went viral on X (formerly Twitter), amassing 938.3K views as of the latest update. K-pop fans speculated on how challenging the "milk training" situation could be, especially for lactose-intolerant trainees.
Some CARATs joked that Mingyu, who stands at 1.87m, must have also consumed Woozi's milk, given that Woozi is only 1.66m tall. Mingyu also dislikes milk now.
Overall, internet users had mixed opinions about PLEDIS Entertainment's strict requirements. Some were pleasantly surprised that a company cared enough to enforce proper nutrition for trainees, while others pointed out that it wasn't suitable for lactose-intolerant individuals.
