What lies ahead for BLACKPINK now that the girls have chosen to continue the journey in terms of group activities?
Recently, various rumors have circulated, but the final word is not yet out. On November 14th, YG shared an update with the media, confirming that the resolution was imminent.
According to Naver, some members might have chosen not to sign individual contracts with YG Entertainment. However, media speculates that this won't hinder the group, as it was expected that BLACKPINK members would continue group activities jointly with YG Entertainment.
Following this, YG Entertainment had stated in the media: "We are still in discussions. Nothing has been decided yet."
Subsequently, YG Entertainment updated the official profiles of BLACKPINK members, including the Order of the British Empire (OBE) honor received by the girls.
On December 6th, the agency finally announced that the girls had renewed their contract regarding group activities.
The company stated: "After lengthy discussions with BLACKPINK, we have signed exclusive contracts for group activities based on our deep mutual trust."
The clarification on group activities clearly indicates that the girls will be able to sign with other agencies for their individual activities but will still be under contract with YG for BLACKPINK's group activities.
Since this announcement, the media speculates about BLACKPINK's future.
According to South Korean media and sources close to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK is reportedly planning a new world tour following these contract renewals.
Media also suggests that the group should not be long in revealing new music.
