The K-pop girl group will continue its career with YG Entertainment, the label that launched them in 2016. South Korean investors are relieved by this news.
It's official! On December 6, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that they and Blackpink, consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, who performed at the Crazy Horse in Paris, would continue working together in the coming years. "After in-depth discussions, we have signed an exclusive contract for the group's activities based on deep trust," the label told AFP, specifying that the girl group plans to release a new album and embark on a world tour.
This news, which came as rumors hinted at some members wanting to explore other opportunities or, worse, a breakup of the quartet, was met with relief not only by fans but also by South Korean investors. On the Seoul Stock Exchange, which closed higher, YG Entertainment's stock soared by 25%. The stocks of other K-pop labels, Hybe Corporation, managing BTS, and JYP Entertainment, behind Twice, gained 7% and 3%, respectively.
