It's his second stay in Spain in just a month, where he has taken the opportunity to practice his Spanish.
His role as Doruk in 'Kardeşlerim'('Hermanos') has made Onur Seyit Yaran one of the most beloved characters of the successful drama and one of the most internationally acclaimed Turkish actors.
The actor, who has just turned 29, has a legion of fans both in Turkey and in every place where the celebrated fiction has been broadcast.
Undoubtedly, one of the countries where the artist enjoys the greatest popularity is ours (Spain). For this reason, he has returned to travel to Spain, but this time, not for tourism but to receive an award for his brilliant work on the series aired by Antena 3.
The handsome actor, who just a month ago visited Seville, Cadiz, and Huelva, landed again last Thursday in Andalusia. His destination was Granada, specifically the town of Torvizcón, where he was going to be awarded at the IX edition of the Viña de Oro awards (the International Golden Vineyard Awards) framed within the celebration of the Fiesta de 'Los Chiscos' of the aforementioned town, declared of National Tourist Interest.
The protagonist of 'Vuslat' has stayed in Órgiva, a town in the Granada Alpujarra that borders Torvizcón. Onur didn't fly alone to our country; he did it with the Turkish actor Gökhan Alkan known for series such as 'Pecado Original' and 'Corazón herido', who was also awarded at the same event. Together they took advantage of Friday morning to discover the charms of the region and enjoyed both the mountains and the sea, taking photos in the Sierra and on the beach of Peñón, in Salobreña.
After a bit of sightseeing, nothing better than recharging energies with some of the awardees. During lunch, we witnessed the progress that Onur Seyit Yaran is making in our language. Guillermo Rojo, an athlete, Paralympic guide, and astronaut trainer, asked him, camera in hand, to say some words in Spanish.
The Turkish actor didn't hesitate to start with a "¡Viva España!" ("Long live Spain!"), "Café con leche, por favor" ("Coffee with milk, please"), "Hola, amigos, muchas gracias por todo" ("Hello, friends, thank you very much for everything"), ending with laughter with a "¿Qué tal pisha?" ("How's it going, mate?"), showing that he is mastering our language more and more.
But it didn't end there, as the Turkish actor also became a Turkish teacher for Guillermo, who tried to repeat the words Onur told him. He corrected his accent and pronunciation to make it perfect, something that, with such a good teacher, he didn't find it hard to achieve.
In the afternoon, the big moment arrived. Onur arrived amidst crowds to a tent specially set up for the award ceremony. Neither the wind, nor the rain, nor the cold prevented his fans from approaching the place to see their idol up close and take a picture with the artist, who didn't stop smiling, greeting, and attending to all his fans.
Once inside the venue, and seated next to Gökhan Alkan, the young actor enjoyed the gala from his seat until it was his turn to collect his award. After hearing his name and watching a video with different moments of his performance in 'Hermanos', Onur went up very excitedly to the stage to collect his Viña de Oro. The protagonist of 'Kalk Gidelim' is taking Spanish lessons because he would like to be able to work in our country and, although he doesn't yet master it completely, he didn't hesitate to deliver his speech in our language.
"Ladies and gentlemen, first: I apologize for my Spanish because I am still learning," the actor began explaining with sympathy. Soon, the apologies turned into gratitude for the realization of one of his dreams. "I am very happy and very, very excited to be here with you. Winning an award in Spain was my dream, so I am very proud. Thank you very much for supporting me on this journey. You are perfect," he assured with great satisfaction.
The Ottoman interpreter explained in English that he couldn't say anything more, but he resumed his words in Spanish to finish his speech. "Thank you, thank you, one moment, thank you for everything, and until next time," he said emotionally after receiving his award.
The award consists of a statuette created exclusively for this ceremony by a renowned Granada sculptor. It is a sculptural ensemble formed by a large cluster of grapes on which a winepress is placed (base of oak and chestnut barrel, on which traditionally the grapes were crushed) and two stompers, a man and a woman in typical Alpujarra costume.
At the ceremony, other recognized personalities and associations from the world of cinema, television, sports, culture, medicine, university, scientific research, communication, and music were also awarded, such as Guillermo Rojo; Natalia Rodríguez (OT), singer, and presenter; the Malaga-born Diana Navarro; the Vale de Granada Association, which works in favor of people with intellectual disabilities; or the actor Jordi Sánchez, protagonist of 'La que se avecina', among others. With the latter, Onur has had great chemistry and has shared several photos with him; in one of them, he defines him as a 'legend', showing the good rapport they have established.
After the event, another of the most anticipated moments arrived: the lighting of the thirty bonfires distributed throughout the different neighborhoods and streets of the municipality, around which neighbors and visitors enjoyed sausages and wine from the Contraviesa.
Onur enjoyed all the town's traditions like one more local and gave good account of it on his profile. In addition, the Turkish actor felt fully the affection of all those present who did not stop approaching to greet him or take photos with him. He also had time to attend to the media who wanted to chat with him.
Everyone wanted to take a photo with Onur Seyit Yaran during his visit to Torvizcón
After a magical night, which Onur Seyit Yaran will surely always remember, the Turkish heartthrob wanted to thank once again the recognition and support of the Spaniards. He did so through a post on his wall where he reviewed the great moments he had lived alongside the message: "Last night was one of the best days of my life, I received my first award in Spain. Thank you for supporting me on this journey and making my dreams come true; it was great to feel your affection, thank you!".
Onur Seyit Yaran and Gokhan Alkan walked the streets of Granada
Before leaving our country, the young man had time this Saturday to tour the streets of Granada with Gökhan Alkan. We have seen them at the door of the store of Granada Football Club, so, knowing Onur's fondness for the king sport, it would not be strange if they had entered to visit it. What he has made clear once again with his brief stay in Andalusia is that the love he feels for our country is proportional to the love his Spanish fans profess for him. He has just left, and they are already looking forward to having him back in Spain, preferably showing his talent in some national project.
