The return of "Viola come il mare 2" will be aired for the first time on Canale 5. The series starring Can Yaman and Francesca Chillemi will be broadcasted in the prime time slot on Friday evenings starting from May 3rd.
This means that the Italian TV series will take over the evening slots previously occupied by "Terra Amara," the successful Turkish soap opera which is now approaching its conclusion with the fourth and final season.
When does "Viola come il mare 2" start on Canale 5: the official premiere date
Following the success of the first season, which garnered an average of over 2.8 million viewers during the evening slot, Mediaset has decided to trust the series once again with Can Yaman and Francesca Chillemi, producing a second chapter that will be part of the spring 2024 schedule.
The broadcast is scheduled to begin on May 3rd, and just like the first season, these new episodes of the second chapter will air on Fridays on Canale 5.
However, it's expected to face tough competition regarding viewership as Rai 1 will debut the highly anticipated new show hosted by Milly Carlucci.
It's called "L'acchiappatalenti," a new talent show featuring several well-known figures from the Italian entertainment industry, including Flavio Insinna, Sabrina Salerno, Simona Ventura, Teo Mammucari, and Mara Maionchi.
Can Yaman takes over "Terra Amara" in Friday prime time
However, the series with Can Yaman will inherit the evening slot from a successful show that has allowed the flagship channel of Mediaset to achieve excellent ratings over the past few months, albeit at a low cost.
That show is "Terra Amara," which will no longer be broadcasted in the Friday evening prime time slot starting from May 3rd.
However, its broadcast on Sunday afternoons is still confirmed, where it will continue to air in the time slot from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, before "Verissimo," the talk show hosted by Silvia Toffanin.
The Turkish series with Zuleyha used as a wild card
This programming change might not please fans of the Turkish series featuring Zuleyha and Fikret, as it has undergone several schedule changes recently.
Due to its huge success with an average of nearly three million viewers in prime time, the soap opera has often been used as a wild card in Canale 5's schedule.
The executives at Mediaset have placed it in the toughest prime time slots of the week, competing against Rai 1's flagship programs like "Doc - Nelle tue mani" and the talent show "The Voice Senior."
