Turkey, which is the country that sells the most TV series to the world after the USA, has started to be significantly affected by rising costs in the TV series market. Three years ago, the cost per episode of series, which used to be around 1 or 1.5 million Turkish Lira, has now exceeded 10 million TL. Just like in every layer of the country, production costs, actor salaries, writer, director, and technical crew salaries in the TV series market have increased tenfold.
Unlike in the past (the reason being the duration of the series being 120 minutes and filming with 2 teams), advertising fees have not increased at the same rate. This situation has led to more series ending this year, especially. Since the series couldn't cover their costs with the advertising revenue they generated during their broadcast hours, channels started ending series more quickly unless there was a guarantee of international sales.
All this financial situation has affected the preparations for summer series. According to the latest news, ARC Film and D Media have abandoned their summer series projects they planned to shoot for this summer at the last minute due to rising costs. Unless there is a new development, no summer series will be filmed this year.
On the other hand, it is predicted that the economic crisis will also reduce the number of series in the September season. It is being talked about that channels will broadcast fewer series after the removal of the "7 days, 7 series" application.
