A few days ago filming began on the first season of Sandokan, the Lux Vide-produced drama starring Can Yaman. The first shots have arrived from the set featuring the Turkish star in the role of the Malaysian Tiger together with actor Ed Westwick. Let's get a preview of the lead actor's look.
Can Yaman, the first official look as Sandokan
After much anticipation, filming has finally begun on the remake of Sandokan, the international series produced by Fremantle Lux Vide in collaboration with Rai Fiction. The TV series stars Can Yaman in the role of the Malaysian Tiger. The magazine "Chi" has exclusively published the first photos from the set, showcasing the Turkish star's initial look. “The look does not disfigure in front of that of the legendary Kabir Bedi,” reports Alfonso Signorini's weekly magazine.
" The Tiger of Malaysia is back! There was a lot of curiosity surrounding the remake of "Sandokan," the cult miniseries from 1976, and now, it's finally here. Three years after announcing the return of the gentleman pirate, we can show you the first photos from the set."
The Turkish star, who portrays the protagonist in "Sandokan," assumes the role of the hero from the Rai fiction, which was directed by Sergio Sollima over forty years ago. The actor's physique is exceptional, and even his appearance closely matches that of the character created by Emilio Salgari in the late 19th century. The characteristics of the Tiger of Malaysia are very similar to those of Yaman: a well-groomed beard, long hair, bracelets, rings, and the distinctive Malaysian dagger, the kris. Most of the scenes have been filmed in Rome, specifically at the Cinecittà studios, where the village of Mompracem has been reconstructed.
In the scenes captured by the paparazzi of "Chi," Sandokan is seen confronting his arch-nemesis, James Brooke. Ed Westwick, known for his role as Chuck Bass in "Gossip Girl," plays the Lord. Alongside the Turkish star and the British actor are newcomer Alanah Bloor as Lady Marianna and Alessandro Preziosi as Yanez de Gomera. The role was previously assigned to Luca Argentero, but he inexplicably withdrew. The cast also includes Madeleine Price, Gilberto Gliozzi, Mark Grosy, and Samuele Segreto, a former student of "Amici."
