According to some rumors, a heated argument may have erupted on the set of Sandokan between Can Yaman and Ed Westwick! Here’s what reportedly happened.
Can Yaman is currently busy filming Sandokan, a Rai production that boasts a stellar cast alongside the Turkish actor. Among the cast are Alessandro Preziosi, who plays Yanez, and Ed Westwick as the villainous Lord Brooke, Sandokan's rival. However, it seems this rivalry might have spilled over from fiction into real life, with rumors circulating about a clash between Can Yaman and Ed Westwick.
Fresh off the success of the second season of Viola come il mare, where he stars alongside Francesca Chillemi as Commissioner Francesco Demir, Can Yaman hasn't had much rest. He's been on the set of Sandokan for a few weeks now, a TV series inspired by Emilio Salgari’s The Pirates of Malaysia saga.
Filming has been underway in Calabria for four weeks, and the series is set to air on Rai 1 next autumn.
The cast features several notable actors and actresses, and it seems that with one of them, Ed Westwick formerly Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl. Can Yaman has allegedly been involved in a furious argument. This rumor was spread by gossip expert Deianira Marzano. During an appearance on Gente di Marte with Gabriele Parpiglia, Marzano claimed that the Turkish actor and Westwick had a significant clash.
According to Marzano, the disagreement was so intense that the actors reportedly requested to stay in separate hotels. At this point, however, these are just rumors, although given some of Yaman's past incidents, there might be some truth to the story. Just last year, during the filming of Viola come il mare, Yaman was accused of causing damage to a local shop, leading to a minor scandal that was quickly hushed up.
Sandokan: Everything We Know About the Upcoming TV Series!
Meanwhile, Yaman is undergoing intense training, including splits and aerial stunts, to best prepare for the action-packed scenes ahead. The actor has expressed his honor at being chosen to play the character from Salgari’s saga and is working hard to bring a version to the screen that is as faithful as possible to the one depicted by the author.
Before him, Kabir Bedi famously brought the character to life in the 1970s TV adaptations. Alongside Can Yaman is a talented cast, including Alessandro Preziosi, Ed Westwick, Alanah Bloor who plays Marianne, Sandokan’s love interest, and the young Amici alumnus, Samu Segreto.
Filming is currently taking place in Calabria, but the sets have been established in Lazio, including Cinecittà and Albano, with a brief stint in Florence at one of Tuscany’s most beautiful castles. The series is slated to debut on Rai 1 next autumn.
