The screenwriter, who co-wrote the series with Silvia Leuzzi and Lorenzo Righi, shared some insights about the plot of the new episodes: "New conflicts, between fear and desire." She also mentioned that filming will start in the spring of 2025, with the cast returning to the set between May and June.

We're already thinking about the plot. For now, we've set up a light writers' room.

What can you tell me about the plot of the new episodes?

There will be new conflicts because happy endings only exist in 100-minute films; we create series that span multiple seasons. We tell real-life stories where one issue is resolved and another emerges. So, we'll introduce a new theme in the third season. The new episodes will oscillate between this constant desire and fear. In short, the plot will unfold between desire and fear.

Will Can Yaman be in the third season of Viola come il mare?

I can't say (laughs), because I can't be the one to officially confirm anything, but I can say that we're confident.

I must say, the couple of Can Yaman and Francesca Chillemi works perfectly in this series.

Francesca and Can are very similar to the characters of Viola and Demir. They are passionate souls and also great professionals, with a deep, sincere respect for one another.

When will filming begin?

We'll start shooting the series next spring, around May or June of 2025.

Exactly. There will be a gap of a little less than two years between the second and third seasons.

The second season of Viola come il mare was intense for the character of Viola Vitale. How did you approach building her character arc?

We started with Viola determined to live life lightly, enjoying everything it has to offer. By the end of the journey, she realizes that eternity is made of moments and that the illness won't take away her freedom to fully enjoy life and love. Viola accepts her illness, a journey that passes through her relationship with Demir.

Francesco Demir also had his fair share of obstacles to overcome.

We began with a man wounded by life but capable of moving forward between loneliness and freedom. Francesco Demir had severe issues with his parents, and because of the pain they caused him, he decided to live only for himself. Through Viola's closeness and humanity an attractive, intelligent, friendly woman, open to the world—he felt the difference between what is temporary and what is eternal.

The relationship between Francesco Demir and the man he believed to be his father was given significant attention.

Yes, he freed himself from the feeling of not being enough, of not being worthy of love because his own father didn't love him. We see a Demir who feels ready to be a father, capable of carrying lasting love on his shoulders.

How did you feel when you found out that the series would be made available in its entirety on Mediaset Infinity?

We were terrified (laughs). The effort put into the second season was immense: incredibly precise direction and actors of very high caliber. It's a series that Lux Vide heavily invested in for a quality artistic revival. So, at first, we were honestly worried. Fortunately, it was a successful experiment. Mediaset was happy, and so were we. I'll add that the first season has returned to Netflix's rankings.

What was the biggest challenge for you in this second season?

Deciding the finale. We had the profound theme of Viola's illness and two characters who are drawn to each other but can't be together. We asked ourselves what we wanted to give the audience in the end. We decided to be honest, so we made important and definitive choices.

I'll admit, for a moment, I thought you were going to kill off the character of Francesco Demir. I know you're capable of it.

(Laughs) I'm cruel but not crazy. I know my limits, even though I did kill off Guido in *Che Dio ci aiuti*. I've already done my share of massacres.
