Çağatay Ulusoy: The highest-paid actor in Turkey in his new project

The star of The Tailor has become the highest-paid actor thanks to a contract he signed with the production company Tims&B Productions to lead a new project called Eşref Rüya.

The year 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting one for Çağatay Ulusoy, one of Turkey’s most famous actors. The star of successful productions like The Tailor has signed a lucrative deal with Tims&B Productions to take on the lead role in a new project titled Eşref Rüya. According to journalist Birsen, Ulusoy will be paid 3.5 million Turkish lira per episode, making him the highest-paid actor in the country’s history. While there are no details yet on when filming will start, the storyline is expected to follow Ashraf, a 14-year-old apprentice mechanic, and his childhood love, Roya, who has captivated him since he was a child.

Born to a Bosnian mother and a Bulgarian father, Çağatay Ulusoy initially studied at Istanbul University in the Department of Garden Design and Landscaping. However, at 19, he decided to try modeling to earn extra money, which sparked his growing interest in acting.

He was a model before becoming an actor

His career took off after winning the title of Best Model of Turkey in 2010, which opened the doors to acting for him. His first big break came with the TV series Adini Feriha Koydum, where he starred alongside Hazal Kaya.

The following year, he made his film debut in a supporting role in Anadolu Kartallari (2011). In an interview, Ulusoy reflected on his beginnings: “Everything happened so fast. I had a hard time adjusting. I never predicted something like this; my life changed overnight. Even now, I still get emotional in front of the camera.”

In March 2018, he was chosen to star in The Protector, Netflix's first original Turkish series, a performance that earned him praise, including from Jason Winston George, known for his role in Grey's Anatomy. In 2021, Ulusoy teamed up with the streaming platform again for the movie Paper Lives, where he played Mehmet, a young man who takes in an orphaned child.

Beyond his acting talent, Çağatay Ulusoy is also a standout on social media, especially on Instagram, where he has over 10 million followers. Through his account, he shares his passion for music and art, showing himself to be a versatile artist who plays the drums and paints. Without a doubt, Ulusoy’s career is on the rise, and Eşref Rüya promises to be a milestone in his journey.
