Can Yaman Under Fire: Selvaggia Lucarelli Questions His Charity’s Transparency

Can Yaman’s charity work is now under scrutiny. Italian journalist and TV personality Selvaggia Lucarelli has raised serious doubts about the transparency of Can Yaman for Children, the non-profit organization created by the Turkish actor. After making headlines for exposing the “Pandoro Gate” scandal, Lucarelli is now taking a closer look at Yaman’s philanthropic efforts.

Can Yaman and His Charity: A Quick Recap

Known for his roles in popular TV dramas and admired by fans across Europe, Can Yaman is also recognized for his social commitment. A few years ago, he launched Can Yaman for Children, a charity focused on helping pediatric wards by raising funds for medical equipment and support for young patients battling serious illnesses.

The organization has carried out several projects, and Yaman has shared the impact publicly, especially through his Break the Wall Tour, where he met fans to raise donations.

Selvaggia Lucarelli Investigates: What She Found

Despite the good intentions, Selvaggia Lucarelli claims there may be inconsistencies. Writing for Il Fatto Quotidiano, she revealed her investigation into fundraising events held in nightclubs across Italy, where Yaman appeared to promote the charity.

In one example, Lucarelli spoke with the manager of a nightclub in Latina, who said:

“We, as a nightclub, donated €5,000 via bank transfer to Yaman’s charity.”

Lucarelli found this hard to believe — suggesting it was unlikely that a celebrity like Can Yaman would appear at such events without receiving personal compensation. The manager later admitted they also sent a payment to Yaman’s manager but refused to disclose the amount, raising further suspicions.

Was the Break the Wall Tour Really for Charity?

Lucarelli’s investigation suggests that Can Yaman may have received a fee for participating in these fundraising events — contradicting the public perception that he was doing it all for free. It’s important to note, however, that Yaman never explicitly claimed he wasn’t being paid; the assumption came from fans and media coverage.

Meanwhile, hospitals involved with the charity have confirmed improvements in their facilities thanks to the donations, providing proof of the positive impact Yaman’s foundation has had.

But Lucarelli Faces Criticism Too

Interestingly, while questioning Yaman’s transparency, Lucarelli herself is facing accusations. According to Il Giornale, she may have violated advertising laws by posting dozens of promotional messages on social media between 2021 and 2023 without properly labeling them as paid partnerships.

She is now under investigation by Italy’s Competition Authority and the Journalists’ Association for potential breaches of ethical conduct.
