Berk Atan, the beloved actor known for his role as Taner in the popular series Gönül Dağı, was involved in a serious traffic accident last Friday in Eskişehir. The young actor, who was in critical condition at the time, was rushed to the hospital. The incident left both his family and fans deeply shaken. Thankfully, his brief statement on Instagram saying “I’m okay” brought some relief to everyone.
Today, Atan shared a new post — this time revealing more details about the incident and the difficult recovery process he’s been going through.
Known for his roles in series like Cennetin Gözyaşları, Güneşin Kızları, and Dayan Yüreğim, Berk Atan most recently captured millions of hearts as Taner in Gönül Dağı. On Friday, April 18, he was involved in a serious traffic accident in Eskişehir.
The 33-year-old actor was injured when the minibus he was traveling in veered off the road and rolled over in the Mihalıççık district.
As concerns about his condition spread, his father gave a statement to journalist Birsen Altuntaş, saying Berk was doing well:
“The vehicle lost control on gravel and rolled over several times. When I saw the state of the car, I said, ‘God has spared our son.’ He has a cracked rib. It will heal over time. Yesterday, due to the risk of internal bleeding, he was kept under observation in intensive care. But the doctors confirmed there’s no risk and moved him to a regular room today around 1 PM. His friends are with him, and his spirits are high… He’s not in pain. He’ll be much better in a few days. This was Berk’s first accident — may it be his last, God willing.”
Soon after, Berk Atan posted a message on social media to reassure his fans and thank everyone for their support.
“Thank you to everyone who called, checked in, and whom I couldn’t respond to. Realizing how loved I am after such a terrible incident has been my biggest source of strength. Thankfully, I’m okay. My family, friends, and loved ones are by my side. I’m currently resting and I’ll be even better soon. May God bless you all.”
A short while ago, Atan made another statement — this time giving even more detailed information about his current condition.
The popular actor explained that he has six fractures in his right ribs and damage to the cartilage. He shared the following update:
“This morning, due to internal bleeding and a collapsed lung caused by broken rib fragments piercing the lung, a chest tube was inserted. We’re going through a tough time, but thank God, it looks like I’ll need to stay in the hospital for at least a week. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who called, prayed, and sent kind wishes. May God bless you a thousand times over. A heartfelt thank you especially to the Governor of Eskişehir, the Provincial Health Director, and the dedicated healthcare workers at Eskişehir City Hospital for their care and support from the very beginning.”
