Yaman, who has been living in Italy for some time now, found himself in the spotlight again after showing frustration at news about him in Turkey. In a recent interview, when asked “Turkey or Italy?”, he replied “Italy,” which sparked criticism from Turkish fans.
Following the controversy, GAİN announced its decision to remove El Turco from its catalog, citing “the sensitivities and values of the Turkish nation” as the reason behind the move.
After GAİN’s announcement, well-known screenwriter Ece Yörenç took to social media to voice her disapproval of the decision.
“SHAME ON YOU — SERIOUSLY!”
“SHAME ON YOU — SERIOUSLY!”
In her statement, Yörenç wrote:
“I just canceled my GAİN subscription! And I say ‘shame on them.’ They removed El Turco from the platform just because of an actor’s interview? This is a huge injustice to the hundreds of people—both local and international—who worked hard on that series. Shame on you. Shame, shame, shame!”
