Can Yaman, known for his roles in popular shows like Erkenci Kuş and İnadına Aşk, often draws attention with his statements and social media posts. The actor, now based in Italy, had been making headlines not just for his work but also for his reactions to news about him in Turkey.
Recently, in an interview where he was asked “Turkey or Italy?”, Yaman responded by choosing Italy — a response that triggered strong reactions back home.Gain, #ElTurco dizisini Can Yaman'ın yurt dışında verdiği bir röportaj sonrası platformdan kaldırmaya karar vermiş. pic.twitter.com/Udc21Xo7n5

GAİN, the streaming platform airing El Turco, announced that it had decided to remove the series, citing Yaman’s comments as the reason. In their statement, GAİN emphasized the “sensitivities and values of the Turkish nation” as a key factor in their decision.
Here is the full statement from the platform:
"In recent days, certain remarks made by Can Yaman — one of the lead actors in our series El Turco — during an interview abroad have sparked diverse reactions and raised several sensitivities within the public.
As GAİN, we want to clearly express that we take all feedback and criticism seriously and that we deeply value the sensitivities of our people.
El Turco is a production inspired by a fascinating period in our history, aiming to portray the Ottoman Empire’s influence in Europe — its bravery and rich cultural heritage.
Unfortunately, we have observed that the public perception created around the series has begun to conflict with the core values of the show and our platform.
In light of these concerns, and out of respect for the sensitivities involved, we have decided to remove El Turco from our platform. This decision reflects our commitment to maintaining the trust we’ve built with our audience and our responsibility as a broadcaster.
As GAİN, we remain dedicated to our mission of telling the stories of this land — its culture and history — in a universal language. We will continue to move forward with respectful, inclusive productions that bring together diverse perspectives."
