Can Yaman’s Goal: Expanding His Fandom
“Today I found out I have British fans too. I didn’t know that yet,”
Yaman said during the Sandokan preview at the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square, London. The series, inspired by the classic tales of Emilio Salgari, is produced by Lux Vide in collaboration with Rai Fiction. It will premiere in Italy this coming fall, with international distribution handled by Fremantle International — except in Spain, where it will air through the Grupo Mediterráneo Mediaset España.
Reflecting on the warm reception in the UK, Yaman said:
“Now I feel like a Londoner. Since I was born in Istanbul, I need a bit of chaos, and London is perfect for that. So I guess I should be popular here. I need my entourage — I can’t live alone.”
As for his loyal fanbase, the Turkish actor acknowledged the deep bond he shares with his supporters, revealing one of his hopes for the future:
“This Spanish lady follows me everywhere. When I go to Brazil or anywhere else, I know I’ll find her waiting at the airport. I’m proud of my fans because they’re so loyal. They never leave me alone, no matter where I go. But now, with Sandokan, I hope to reach a whole new level of fandom — and fans from other countries too, maybe even in the United States and Northern Europe.”
Filming for the series began in April 2024 and promises to be a full-scale epic featuring actors from multiple countries. With post-production now complete, Sandokan is set for a major international rollout. The project also marks a bold step in reimagining the legendary role once played by Kabir Bedi — a challenge the team is embracing with high expectations.
In Italy, Sandokan is scheduled to air on Rai1 at the beginning of the fall season.
