Popular actor Caner Topçu was spotted by journalists leaving a shopping mall. Speaking briefly with reporters, Topçu mentioned he had spent his day exercising and revealed that he's currently in talks for two new projects. He also took the opportunity to address recent comments made by his former co-star Rabia Soytürk.
When journalists reminded him of Soytürk’s controversial remarks regarding their past collaboration in the series "Duy Beni," Topçu expressed himself clearly and firmly:
“It’s been years since that project ended. For her to make such statements after so much time has passed seems ridiculous and disrespectful. I sense there's an ulterior motive behind this.”
"I've Never Disrespected Anyone"
Topçu continued his statement:
“I've never been disrespectful to her or to anyone else on the 'Duy Beni' set. Her remarks challenge my professional integrity. We’re colleagues; we share the same profession and earn our living together. I find her comments very strange and inappropriate.”
Questioning the reason for bringing up a past incident, Topçu added, “Maybe she’s trying to gain publicity using my name. That could explain it, because otherwise, there's no logical explanation. There’s something behind this, but I'm not sure exactly what.”
"Extremely Inappropriate"
Referring to an interview he gave in 2023 with Hakan Gence, Topçu provided further context:
“In that interview, I was asked about the series I was working on at the time. My response was, ‘Sümeyye Aydoğan is a very close friend, and I’d love to partner with her in a future project.’ Hakan Bey, using his journalistic skills, sensationalized this by saying, ‘Rabia would die hearing this.’ At the time, I chose to remain silent. But silence doesn't mean I was rude or disrespectful. As I said before, these are extremely inappropriate comments. She has shown her true character with her actions.”
