Park Yong-sik (Player 007) – The Sacrificial Son
First up, we have Park Yong-sik, better known as Player 007. Remember him? He’s the guy who entered the games with his mom, Jang Geum-ja (Player 149). In the trailer, we see Yong-sik draw a colored ball that doesn’t match his mother’s. Uh-oh… this looks like bad news. It suggests they ended up on opposing sides in a deadly challenge – possibly something like the marble game all over again. And you know what that usually means: only one of them can survive.
Here’s why Yong-sik is in trouble: his mother Geum-ja is on Seong Gi-hun’s team (we all know Gi-hun always finds a way to survive). Assuming Gi-hun’s side (the “red team”) wins this challenge, the person holding the other color – in this case Yong-sik with the odd-colored ball – is likely done for. 😥 The trailer even shows Geum-ja crying her eyes out at one point, which pretty much confirms our fears. It looks like poor Yong-sik might be the first unlucky soul to die, leaving his mom in agony. It’s a heartbreaking start, but the clues are all there.
Cho Hyun-ju (Player 120) – A Fan Favorite in Danger
Next on the chopping block is Cho Hyun-ju (Player 120) – one of the fan-favorite new characters. Hyun-ju is tough and resourceful (she survived Season 2), but the trailer hints her luck could run out in Season 3. Why? Because Hyun-ju also draws that cursed blue ball! Just like Yong-sik, we glimpse Hyun-ju picking a blue-colored ball during the teaser. If our theory about the colored balls is right and Gi-hun’s team (red) wins, then anyone holding a blue ball is likely done.
This is devastating because Hyun-ju has become super popular with viewers for her courage and heart. She even formed a close bond with Geum-ja in Season 2. But seeing her pull a blue ball signals she might share Yong-sik’s fate. 😢 It’s painful to imagine, but Season 3 could claim Hyun-ju’s life in one of its twisted games. Of course, we’re still hoping we’re wrong on this one because losing Hyun-ju would hurt – but in Squid Game, no one is safe.
Kim Jun-hee (Player 222) – A Tragic Childbirth
The trailer’s final moments give us a totally different kind of clue: we hear a baby crying in the distance. 🎞️👶 This sound hints at a major event – Kim Jun-hee (Player 222) going into labor during the games. That’s right, Jun-hee is heavily pregnant (we learned this in Season 2), and it seems Season 3 will show her giving birth amidst the chaos. We catch a few quick, intense shots of Jun-hee in distress, and it doesn’t look good at all.
Here’s the tragic theory: Jun-hee likely doesn’t survive the childbirth. The conditions in Squid Game aren’t exactly hospital-safe, and the trailer imagery suggests a very dire outcome. We might witness Jun-hee delivering her baby, only to lose her life in the process. It’s an emotional gut-punch – one of the most heartbreaking deaths imaginable. The idea of a mother sacrificing herself (intentionally or not) to bring a new life into the world would add a whole new layer of drama to the show. And sadly, all signs point to Jun-hee meeting a tragic end at that moment.
Lee Myung-gi (Player 333) – The Father’s Survival
So if Jun-hee dies, what happens to her newborn baby? Enter Lee Myung-gi (Player 333) – Jun-hee’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her child. Myung-gi is very much alive in the trailer and appears to be present when the baby’s crying is heard. We suspect that the baby will end up in Myung-gi’s arms after Jun-hee’s death. Perhaps the game organizers or a compassionate ally passes the infant to its father. This development would instantly raise the stakes for Myung-gi: he’s no longer just fighting for himself, but now he has a newborn child to protect (outside the game).
Given this scenario, our prediction is that Myung-gi will actually survive Season 3. 🙏 Why? Squid Game might spare him so that he can take care of the baby – it would be a sliver of hope amid all the carnage. Myung-gi’s survival would also make for a powerful storyline: a flawed man (remember, he has a shady past with crypto scams) who gets a chance at redemption by living and caring for his child. Don’t get me wrong, Season 3 will be brutal, but we’re betting Myung-gi makes it out alive, clutching that baby, in honor of Jun-hee’s memory.
Kang No-eul (Guard 011) – The Rebellious Hero
Now let’s talk about Kang No-eul, also known as Guard 011 – the bullied guard from Season 2. You might recall No-eul as the North Korean defector who ended up working as a Squid Game guard (and got mistreated by her fellow guards). In the new trailer, there’s a thrilling shot of No-eul crawling through an air vent, sneaking around behind the scenes. You know what that means: No-eul is likely turning against the game from the inside! 😮It looks like No-eul might team up with the players or launch her own rebellion to sabotage the games. This makes her a hero in our eyes – but also paints a giant target on her back. In true dramatic fashion, heroes who rebel against the system in Squid Game often face deadly consequences. We suspect No-eul has a high chance of dying a heroic death in Season 3. Perhaps she’ll be caught and executed by the other guards or maybe she’ll sacrifice herself to help others escape. Either way, her storyline is poised to be epic and tragic. If No-eul goes down, she’ll go down fighting as an internal hero trying to bring down the evil game from within.
The Front Man (Hwang In-ho) – Final Showdown with the Villain
Finally, we can’t forget the big bad of the series: the Front Man himself (the mysterious man in the black mask, a.k.a. Hwang In-ho). This guy has been pulling the strings and orchestrating the deadly games, but Season 3 is rumored to be the last season of Squid Game. And you know what that means? It’s endgame for our villain. I’m calling it now: the Front Man is going down.
Imagine the final showdown – Gi-hun and any remaining allies versus the Front Man in an ultimate battle of wits and survival. The writers will want to give us the most satisfying conclusion, and what better way than to kill off the mastermind behind it all? Whether Gi-hun pulls the trigger or the Front Man meets a poetic justice kind of death, I’d bet my last won that he won’t survive Season 3. It just makes sense to finish the series by defeating the head of the snake. So brace yourselves to see the Front Man finally face consequences for all the horror he’s inflicted. It’s going to be legendary. 💥
