The love scene between Hande Erçel and Barış Arduç in their second project together, Aşkı Hatırla, has caused quite a stir. The scene, which quickly went viral on social media, sparked heated debates and received harsh criticism from certain viewers. And now, one of Arduç’s former co-stars, Onur Büyüktopçu, has broken his silence.
Appearing on Ferit Ömeroğlu’s talk show Olduğu Gibi, Büyüktopçu didn’t hold back his thoughts on the controversial moment. “Disturbing!” he said about the scene featuring Erçel and Arduç.
Following their first collaboration in the film Rüzgara Bırak, this marks the second time Hande Erçel and Barış Arduç have teamed up as on-screen partners. Their new romantic drama Aşkı Hatırla, filmed in the scenic region of Cappadocia, recently premiered its first three episodes on Disney+. From the poster to the trailer and the red carpet premiere, every detail surrounding the series has made headlines. But one particular scene in the released episodes has truly shaken things up.
In Aşkı Hatırla, Hande Erçel plays a character named Güneş, while Barış Arduç portrays Deniz. It was a love scene between the two that became the center of attention and drew widespread reaction.
Among those who couldn’t stay indifferent was Onur Büyüktopçu.
The actor, who previously starred alongside Barış Arduç in the hit series Kiralık Aşk, joined Ferit Ömeroğlu’s show as a guest and shared his take on the scene. “When I first saw it, I found it very bold,” Büyüktopçu said. “An actor might say, ‘I wouldn’t go that far.’ Because that’s a whole different subject.”
“From a viewer’s perspective, I think it was too much,” he added. “Actors probably feel more at ease because it’s for a digital platform. You couldn’t shoot a scene like that for a national TV channel.”
When Ömeroğlu asked, “Would it make you uncomfortable?” Büyüktopçu replied without hesitation: “Of course, it would.” He concluded, “In my opinion, that scene was just a bit disturbing.”
