Viola come il Mare Season 3: Can Yaman Exits, Rodrigo Guirao Diaz Joins the Cast

Can Yaman is officially stepping away from Viola come il Mare, and in his place for Season 3 of the hit Canale 5 drama comes international actor Rodrigo Guirao Diaz. Here are all the details.

The rumors have now been confirmed. During Mediaset’s official presentation of its 2025/2026 programming schedule, the return of Viola come il Mare was announced, with the Lux Vide series set to come back in the new year. The show, filmed in Palermo, will return with Francesca Chillemi reprising her role as journalist Viola Vitale. However, production has been pushed back a few months to allow the actress to fully enjoy her pregnancy and the delicate time she’s experiencing.

But that’s not the only reason for the delay. As speculated in recent months, Can Yaman will not be returning for the third season. Over the past few years, Yaman has starred in two major international series—El Turco and Sandokan—both of which demanded intense physical and mental preparation, even before filming began. With both shows renewed for additional seasons, Yaman made the tough decision to walk away from his role as Chief Inspector Francesco Demir. Understandably, this news has deeply disappointed his loyal fans.

 

Rodrigo Guirao Diaz Replaces Can Yaman

Losing a leading man in a show like Viola come il Mare, where the storyline is driven largely by the dynamic and complicated relationship between the two protagonists, is no small blow. Fans of the Turkish star had hoped to see Yaman return, even if only for a few episodes, to properly wrap up his character’s arc. But the show is already moving forward—with Argentine heartthrob Rodrigo Guirao Diaz stepping in as a new addition to the cast.

Rodrigo is well known to Italian audiences for his role as Nicolás in the teen drama Il Mondo di Patty. He later appeared in other popular Italian productions such as Terra Ribelle and La Certosa di Parma, both aired on Rai 1. Born in 1980, the actor brings not only charm but also an impressive television resume.

While Davide Maggio was first to break the news of Rodrigo joining Viola come il Mare Season 3, it’s still unclear exactly what role he’ll play or how his character will be introduced. One thing seems likely: he could very well become Viola Vitale’s new love interest.
