Can Yaman Already Released in Istanbul: No Arrest Warrant for the Actor

Can Yaman was stopped in Istanbul during an anti-drug raid on nine nightclubs. The actor was released after tests and giving a statement, with no arrest warrant issued. The operation involved more than 20 people.

After the initial shock caused by the news, Can Yaman’s situation has now been clarified. The Turkish actor, who was stopped during the night between January 9 and 10 as part of an anti-drug operation targeting nine nightclubs in Istanbul, has already been released.

Yaman gave a statement to investigators, and the prosecutor’s office did not issue any arrest warrant against him.

The Raid on Istanbul Nightclubs

The operation, coordinated by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the department for investigations into smuggling, narcotics, and economic crimes, targeted nine nightclubs in the Turkish metropolis. During the raids, law enforcement arrested drug dealers, managers, and venue owners believed to be involved in the trafficking of illegal substances.

Yaman was inside one of these venues at the time of the raid. According to the newspaper Hürriyet, the actor was not the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the prosecutor’s office, but was reportedly stopped following a tip-off about alleged drug use. During the search, according to some local media outlets, substances were allegedly found on him.

As previously reported, fellow actress Selen Görgüzel and six other individuals were also stopped along with the actor. All those detained were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute to undergo blood tests. After completing the tests and giving his statement to investigators, Yaman was released in the late morning of January 10.

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that no arrest warrant was issued against the actor, even as the investigation continues into allegations of “possession of drugs or stimulants for personal use,” “facilitating drug use,” and “encouraging prostitution, facilitating such activity, or acting as an intermediary or providing a place for prostitution.”
