Can Yaman Strikes Back at Faruk Turgut Again
Can Yaman is holding nothing back. After remaining silent for far too long following his move to Italy—deliberately avoiding any talk of the controversies that surrounded him in Turkey during the filming of some of his famous soaps—he has finally had enough. Now, following direct attacks from Turkish producer Faruk Turgut, Can has decided to air the grievances he has been accumulating for years. Having clashed with Faruk from afar and finally told his side of the story, Can has returned with further confessions, this time pointing the finger at some of his colleagues.
Can stated that many will surely refuse to take a stand out of self-interest or for financial reasons, unaware that he, too, had considered the producer an honest person until he discovered he was making money behind his back. But that is not all. In his lengthy reflection, the Turkish actor also brought up Erkenci Kuş (known internationally as Daydreamer) and his former co-star, Demet Özdemir. Here is what he had to say.
Can Yaman Surprises Everyone Regarding Demet Özdemir and Daydreamer
To fully explain his point and get everything off his chest, Can Yaman had to mention some of his most beloved soaps in his lengthy social media outburst. After all, these are the very shows that launched his career. However, according to him, Daydreamer is not the crown jewel of his success; instead, it is Bitter Sweet (Ingredienti d’amore / Dolunay), which preceded the massive success of the soap where he played Can Divit.
"The way the character 'Can Divit' was portrayed was my own genius, not the producer's. I explained this at the time, which is why they were so scandalized... Most of it was improvised. That is why they messed with me, so they wouldn't lose me. Just so I would remain under the control of a single producer... My name meant guaranteed sales abroad. The balance of pay scales in the industry shifted, and the attacks began. I even believe the producer was behind the negative news stories that came out so that I would always remain dependent on him. Later on, during conversations with other producers, this belief of mine was only cemented.
Additional note: According to the information I've received, my co-star from Erkenci Kuş received her share of international sales; the director, the screenwriter, and the rest got theirs too, but I know the lies that the producer—who is supposedly known for his honesty (!)—made up to avoid paying me my rightful share... But you can continue to know him as honest and fatherly. That is what suits your interests best..."
Can brought Demet Özdemir into the discussion to point out that Faruk paid her for the international royalties as per her contract, while constantly refusing to acknowledge Can's rights. The Turkish actor then admitted that whoever wants to can continue to believe the producer is a good person, but those who know the truth should finally take a stand.
