Kanal D’s hit series Eşref Rüya disappointed viewers with its sudden finale. Fans had been expecting a season finale, but when news broke that the show was ending for good, the question “Why did Eşref Rüya end?” began circulating widely, along with a string of intriguing claims.

The most talked-about allegation was that Çağatay Ulusoy’s girlfriend, Aslıhan Malbora, frequently visited the set out of jealousy, was uncomfortable with his scenes with Demet Özdemir, and that the resulting tension ultimately led to the decision to end the series. Erol Babaoğlu, who played Ölü Yaşar in the show, has now responded to the claims.

Eşref Tek, the character who became a television phenomenon over the past two seasons, suddenly bid farewell to the screen following the unexpected finale decision. Although the series, starring Çağatay Ulusoy and Demet Özdemir, lost its place at the top of the ratings after Yeraltı premiered, its loyal fan base never stopped watching Eşref Rüya. The decision to end the show while it was still drawing strong ratings left viewers both saddened and angry.

While many questions remained about why Eşref Rüya had ended, the most widely discussed allegation was that the series was canceled because of a jealousy crisis involving Çağatay Ulusoy’s girlfriend, Aslıhan Malbora. According to the claim, Malbora was uncomfortable with Ulusoy’s intimate scenes with Demet Özdemir, frequently visited the set, and her jealousy placed pressure on both Ulusoy and the production team. “No, not at all. Çağatay is a very professional actor. It all sounded like complete nonsense to me. I don’t know much about the gossip, but it was a highly professional set. All this talk about ‘so-and-so said this’ or ‘his girlfriend did that’... How could something like that possibly happen? It was an excellent cast with an excellent directing team. This was a major production. A powerful producer was investing a great deal of money, and the series was sold to 52 countries. Do you really think a project like that could end over something like this?” Babaoğlu said.
